Concept of Anybus X-gateway
Connect almost any two Industrial Networks with the Anybus X-gateway. Over 150 versions available, all very easy to configure and install. No extra programming required!
The Anybus X-gateway family is a product line consisting of over 150 different products aimed to connect almost every possible combination of two industrial networks. The product family supports 17 different Fieldbus networks such as Profibus, DeviceNet, CANopen and CC-Link as well as Industrial Ethernet versions.
The X-gateways are designed for use in Industrial Automation plants where increasingly many different Fieldbus networks are used. The X-gateways help System Integrators to easily interconnect any two networks, enabling consistent information flow throughout the entire plant.

No programming required - as close to plug and play as you can get!
The Anybus X-gateways have been designed for use in harsh industrial environments featuring standard DIN rail mounting, IP20 rating and 24 Volt DC power supply and hazardous location classifiactions such as ATEX and UL1604. The X-gateways are intelligent stand alone devices supporting fanless operation and industrial operating temperature range.

There is no programming involved. You simply choose the gateway version that supports the two networks that you want to bridge. For each of all possible network combinations, there is one separate Gateway. This gives you a flexible and versatile solution that is based on proven Anybus technology.
I/O data transfer
The X-gateway range primarily focuses on the transfer of cyclic I/O data between two networks. This can either be a Slave><Slavecombination or Master><Slave combination. During the set-up of the Gateway, the user simply selects the amount of I/O to be transferred between Network 1 and Network 2. Since all Industrial Networks supports a different amount of I/O data, the network with the least amount of I/O data determines how much data can be transferred in each case. Average response time tested in the field is between
10-15 ms between networks.

Web based features adds extra functionality for all Ethernet versions |
The X-gateway family has support for the Industrial Ethernet protocols Modbus-TCP, EtherNet/IP and Profinet. All versions of Anybus-X that feature Ethernet have additional IT-functions included. The Ethernet interface of the X-gateway consists of an embedded Ethernet 10/100 Mbit/s interface with IT-functionality such as a Web-server, SSI-scripts, Flash file system, FTP-server, e-mail client and Telnet. It is possible to build web pages which display and control a factory floor process with data from the other connected network. With the free software 'Anybus-IP Config Tool' you can simply set up or change the Ethernet configuration on any Anybus product with an Ethernet 10/100 Mbit interface. |
OPC Server for all Ethernet versions
All Ethernet versions of the X-gateway features support for the OPC server. That means support for up to 17 different network interfaces! This is made possible through the HMS Ethernet Transport Provider. Motorola droid razr maxx user manual pdf. The Transport Provider creates a channel for process data between the gateway and a PC and its OPC server.

This is an excellent application where we enable remote access to fieldbus data over a standard TCP/IP network using Ethernet copper cables or optical fibres. Theoretically it is possible to have the connection through the open internet.
The OPC Server supports Data Access (DA) V1.0, 2.05, 3.0 and includes a Tag Editor. Included also is a driver for CoDeSysCoDeSys Realtime Runtime System for Windows NT/2000/XP from 3S.

Questions & Answers on Anybus X-gateway
Read the most common questions about the Anybus X-gateways
Q: Do I need to program or configure the Anybus X-gateway in any way before commissioning the gateway on the networks?
A: At shipment the X-gateway contains default settings. These are 20 bytes inputs and output on each network side and the X-gateway is configured to clear data on one side if there is a loss of network communication. For adjustment of these I/O sizes or changing any of the other default setting, just connect the serial cable that comes with the X-gateway to the serial port of a PC. Start a terminal program such as “Hyper-Terminal” and a menu system will make it possible to change from default settings. All changes are stored on a internal flash memory.

Q: I use the Anybus X-gateway with Ethernet to Profibus Slave. How do I configure the IP address of the Ethernet interface?
A: There are several ways of doing this, see the user manual. The easiest way is to download the free software program “Anybus IP config” on your PC and connect it to your Ethernet network. The software will scan the network for devices with Ethernet interfaces from HMS and display these in a window. For this window you can select IP address, Host name etc. The software can be downloaded from the support section for the X-gateway.

Q: Do I need any additional configuration files to install the X-gateway to my fieldbus network?
A: For DeviceNet, ControlNet and Ethernet/IP the customer needs an EDS-file (Electronic Datasheet) for Profibus and CANopen there are similar files that need to be imported in the PLC/Networking commissioning tool used by the customer. These files are downloadable from this website on the support section for the X-gateway.
